Even the most promising laboratory level research often fails to replicate into commercial entity. The problem possibly lies at the intermediate developmental steps. There is an urge to understand the complications involved at these intermediary steps. The purpose of this course will be to train young scientists by delivering lectures and tutorials about upcoming technologies being used to transform the newly discovered laboratory biotechnological products into commercial realities. The one week course is intended to provide researchers a forum to discuss various hurdles faced in advancing the newly discovered biologics beyond the laboratory. The course will be of interest to researchers both from academia and industry. Applicants must be senior PhD students, postdoctoral fellows or young investigators. Appropriate background knowledge and expertise is essential. This course is being organized in the framework of cooperation between International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), Regional Centre of Biotechnology Training and Education (RCBTE), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) and UNESCO through its International Basic Sciences Programme (IBSP).

Process Development for Microbial and Mammalian Expression Systems, Development of Diagnostics and Biomarkers, Development of Recombinant Vaccine and Delivery System, Drug Discovery and Development, and Regulatory Considerations in Development of Biologics.

IUBMB, RCBTE, ICGEB and UNESCO-IBSP will share the cost of accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality of the selected participants for the duration of the course; travel is not funded.
